The main advantage of the use of the remotely operated underwater drone is cost and time-efficiency, as they allow to obtain information in a fast and safe way in real-time. The unmanned underwater vehicles are becoming a reachable and intuitive tool for underwater inspection, such as for the inspection of the marine hull of vessels, bridges, foundations, piers, pylons, and other support structures in ports. There is a demand for a better, more dynamic, and safe monitoring approach to underwater research and inspection. The marine ecosystem is necessary to be monitored as it is exposed to externalities and pollutants that affect biodiversity and the state of the underwater structures. Fish recognition achieved 87% accuracy by deep learning. The 360-degree panoramic images were generated correctly. Experimental results show that the function of the underwater drone achieved at diving in the leak automatically. Fish recognition is based on deep learning, which is the biggest topic in the artificial intelligence (AI) research field today. As for the application of the underwater drone, we focused on fish recognition for investigating fish species in a natural lake to help protect the original environment. The underwater drone was designed by extending the Raspberry Pi compute module, the frame was designed by OpenSCAD, and the printed circuit board was designed by MakePro. The function of the 360-degree panoramic camera is generated by correcting the images taken by two fisheye lenses. The designs are based on the open-source hardware and will be shared as an open-source for contributing to the innovation of manufacturing including drone. We developed an underwater drone with a 360-degree panoramic camera acting as the “eye” of the drone. We believe that underwater drones will become a big research topic and find a market in the near future. However, those drones are mainly used in the unmanned aerial vehicles. Highly developed drone technology enables the use of drones in a wide variety of areas.
